File Operation Progress popup box

I frequently get a popup box saying File Operation Progress.

Another small box shows on the upper right side.

When I right click it, a box opens saying "File Operation Progress.'

What is that and how can I stop that?

Hello,

Could you let us know which operating system you're using, and in which desktop environment or window manager this happens (e.g. KDE, Gnome, XFCE, etc.) ? Also, does this file copying notification actually appear only when you are copying files (which I presume would mean it's an expected feature of the graphical environment you're using), or does it just randomly pop up when you're not doing any file management tasks ?

Ubuntu Mate 20.04.

Marco - The MATE Window Manager

The file notification only appears when I am copying files.

@cyclist ,
suggest you visit https://guide.ubuntu-mate.org/ , there's a community site https://ubuntu-mate.community/ , join it and see if they can help, this behaviour is most likely a setting in the app(let) (config ?) that does the copy operation(s) (speculation on my part)

I have posted to https://forum.xfce.org/.

They are the developers of Thunar.

They are now "guessing" as to the cause.

andy@7 ~> thunar -V

Yes, it really looks like that with no content visible.

I could go back to using Caja, but I do not want to settle for 2nd best.

Thanks,
Andy

Is it installed at all?
Try
apt search appmenu-gtk-module

I posted on the Thunar forum. They do not know what the problem is.

I did a purge of Thunar which also removed all configuration files.

And re-installed Thunar.

I would like to write a script that would copy some large files from on directory to another to see if the problem is still occurring

I would like the files from /home/andy/Downloads/ to be copied to /home/andy/TESTING/.

Thanks for any help.

Andy

Then consider moving to macOS, which has a very good UI (Aqua) on top of the worlds largest UNIX OS user base

I know that Linux is pretty good at logging stuff.

Is there a log file that might show what is happening when the "File Operation Progress" popup occurs?

I am not ready to give up on this.

Thanks.

Vielen dank.
