Hi.

Just added this feature, which you can find in many sites on the net; but I think our format looks a bit better.

If you would like for us to including other information that can be derived from the IP address, please reply in this thread.

Is there some reason why the link above gives my IP address as 50.0.36.223 and the link in the Spam Tab, external IP check gives my IP address as 50.0.36.20 and following the map links from both of them put me at different locations with neither of them being within three miles of my actual location?

That's GeoIP.. it normally gives the location based on a database of IP addressed that is mostly correlated to the office of the IP service provider.

Regarding the two different IP's on the same subnetwork, I assume that is a function of how your network is configured, but not sure.

Will look at how the Spam tab acts for my IP.

OK. I see.. the 'Spam Tab' shows the IP address when you registered:

Registration IP Address: 50.0.36.20

The "What is my IP" page shows the address you a browsing from now.

The GeoIP difference is based on the GeoIP database; which we have little control over.

Update:

Added IP proxy detection status information
Added some notes at the bottom about proxy detection and geoip accuracy.
Added remote user port detection information

Hi. I'm currently debugging the GeoIP database for our What Is My IP page.

Seems our GeoIP system may be having trouble with City, Region and Longitude and Latitude; but I'm not sure because in the log file it works fine on many IPs but on others it's not working.

Can you guys help me out and visit our What is My IP Address page and cut and paste post your IP address, Country, City and Region (and optional Long and Lat) and if a proxy service was detected or not?

Hmmm... seems to work so I guess the problem with many entries in the log file cannot find the city, region, etc. (only country) is with the GeoIP database and not our server setup or PHP code.

Would be good to get some more test results

Hi... I did not make any changes.

Your first post and second post use two different IP address; so the issue must be holes in the GeoIP database.
