Soumitra Dutta Oxford-What OS, shell, and environment are you using?

Hi, My name is Soumitra Dutta, an Oxford-based entrepreneur & photographer. I’m currently running a Linux system with Bash, but I’m still experimenting with different setups and tools. I’d really appreciate hearing what OS, shell, and environment others here are using—any suggestions or recommendations for a stable and efficient setup?

Regards

Soumitra Dutta

Hopefully, I covered most of what you were asking about @soumitradutta26 .

OS: Linux
Environment: Mint, Ubuntu, Debian
Shell: Bash

I am using bash, writing and maintaining bash scripts. Personally I like zsh.

OS: macOS

Environment: macOs

shell: KSH (because I worked with more than 30 years…) , ZSH (I can nad trying to evolve too)

but like many old guys, I have my collection of old unix in a garage , madam had enough of my old junk… replaced by a mellotron a minimoog and a K250, she is regretting her choice…

Amateur here:-

Gnu/Linux Mint Cinnamon for many years, on multiple machines…
Shell = dash…
Why? Because fully POSIX only shells are more difficult to code for.

APPLE OSX 10.15.7, Intel based, I have no access to M series silicon.
Shells = bash and now zsh (or sh for both).

AMIGA OS3.1x using ADE the *NIX emulation for the AMIGA family.
Shell = ksh88 (or sh).

CygWin, on Windows 8.1.
Shell = bash version of that era.
