If you ever try skimming through the privacy policy or terms of service you'll see that you pretty much don't have a practical right to privacy anymore. So much is tracked that it''s absurd
Cybersecurity != Privacy
Cybersecurity is primarily concerned with the following:
- Availability
- Confidentiality
- Integrity
Privacy is not congruent with Cybersecurity and so the topic is incorrect.
I have edited the title to reflect the post contents.
If you want privacy:
- Do not use the Internet
If you must use the Internet, and want privacy:
- Do not use any social media
- Do not use any forum, blog, etc
- Do not use any search engine
- Do not buy anything online
- Never register any account with your email address or any personal info
- Do not use any navigation software like Google Maps
- Always use a VPN and mask your IP address
- Block all cookies and javascript.
- And there are a lot more "do nots" !
But if you are not going to do all the things above, then its back to:
- Do not use the Internet.
There is nothing private about using a common public network driven by commerce and profit.
It's been this way for a few decades already, so this is nothing new!
When you walk in a shopping mall or a market or on the street, everyone in the mall will see you. There is no privacy walking outside either.
You could move to a cave on some remote island with no network and grow your own food and wear plants and tree bark for clothes, maybe?
Haha. And if you feel pain in your toe then cut off your leg
my 2 kopeks (under an assumed name ) use cash money not credit/debit cards whenever possible.
.... with CCTV everywhere, do not forget to wear something to help with "privacy" !!!
Sadly all this does is change the attributes that are matched while making said attributes easier to identify. Sure, the actual face is hidden, but there probably are very few people with a mask like that, thus making you stick out.
Strive for the most common, mediocre, average, mundane appearance to have the largest number of people that you can be confused with. .
OK, but don't tell me you had privacy without internet:
What about when it come to fill your income tax form... aren't you asked things you don't even talk with your colleagues, like your real wage? your bank accounts etc...
I pass the customs regularly, about 2 times a week (bad weeks 5 times) Do you think I can pass like that? And in a police control what if I say I have a license but no way I will show it ( my private sphere) you will say I'm looking for trouble... What is the difference???
In the case case of the police you can let them have all the private data they want, did you know when they check your identity, in many case they make a copy, what happens to that copy?...
but when you are asked online... you forget on thing you are free to accept...
