Polls: Change vote

Since most of the polls in "The Lounge" are subjective and quite some are asking about things that might change over time (examples here, here and here), I think it might be a good idea to allow a change of mind on (some) polls.

A vBulletin mod that can do that is available here

What's your opinion? Good idea or would polls too easily become non-informative?

I like the idea and think we should install it.

OK, I installed it, but there is a basic problems with this modification.

The only way to select a poll so a vote can be changed is to make it a "write -in" poll. This means that, unless I rewrite the code, a user cannot change his vote unless we also allow the same usergroup to be able to write in new options.

This is OK for some polls, for example if we are asking about editors or what is your favorite movie.

However, for more fixed polls (like a few of the examples you cite), a write-in would not enhance the poll.

Too bad, since this is apparently the only mod for this functionality (at least as far as the search on the site goes). I'll try finding something else, or, failing that, try to alter that mod to separate vote changing from the write-in module.

Great! Thanks!
