DEV: Drop support for template overrides and mobile-specific templates

Feeling concerned about this commit, so have not upgraded in a while:

Not sure what this commit will break... one of those Discourse "we told you so" commits which can break things

I wonder if we upgrade the site, if themes will break.....

Anyway, we must upgrade sooner or later, so we will find out soon enough.

Now we are 181 commits behind.

So, I think I'll upgrade soon and if it breaks our default "Jet Cockbit" theme, we will just revert back to the prior "Dark" theme as the default.

On a personal note, I hope the "Jet Cockpit" theme does not break = because I invested a considerable amount of time on this theme.

Done

Desktop looks OK. Mobile is imperfect, but I think it was imperfect before.

Yes, Jet Cockpit looks good on the desktop in FF and Edge.

I may write and install a Discourse plugin which will select a different theme for mobile phones, as the Jet Cockpit theme is suboptimal for mobile.

With numerous problems with "Jet Cockpit" theme in smaller mobile devices, we are not testing the "Mint" theme by default.

For those who wish to stick with the "Jet Cockpit" theme, you can go to your

Setting

Preferences -> Interface

From there you can select the theme you like, including our prior default "Jet Cockpit" theme.

According to some AI research, this "Mint" theme is considered to be one of the top themes for Discourse.

Cheers!

Stll having issues with mobile themes so I switched the "default" theme back to "Dark" for now.

Maybe it is my iPhone 12 mini small screen?

On my mini the Mint scheme (Text Size: smaller) looks okay. Posts fit on my screen, and in posts/edits I have the ... with all the formatting options.
Didn't play much with it though.

I have a iPhone Xs and the display of our forum using brave browser is ok for me even quite good…

Which theme do you guys like for the "default" ?

I use the dark theme on iPhone, as holding it up, i tried tilting it to see how it displays and it messes up while showing the keyboard

I use 'Dark' for FF on laptop and Chrome on Samsung mobile - both work just fine.
I tend to stick with Dark as it's minimalistic enough for my taste.

I used Dark for ages before Jet Cockpit.

Now just returned to Dark

Yeah, we tried "Jet Cockpit" and then "Mint" (which are still available for anyone in their user preferences) - but in the end of all this experimentation and testing, we are back to our long favorite "Dark" theme, which I also use.

I also like "Mint" and "Jet Cockpit" and will use these themes from time to time, just to keep things interesting and different - but will default to "Dark" again for all users who do not select a theme in their user preferences and guests of course .....
