Here are some of the 3D printing things I have been up over the last few days:
-
Purchased a special crystal glass print bed and it's been printing very nicely.
-
Have installed and been working with OctoEverywhere!, OctoPod! and OctoNotification plugins. It's nice to get status updates and other printing notification on my phone.
-
Finished about half of the dated "Makers" audiobook. Did not like it at all. Not recommended. Returned it for an Audible credit.
-
Next, I will install the Telegram plugin and see how that works with mobile. I hope it is better than the buggy OctoEverywhere!, OctoPod! and OctoNotification plugins combo, I have been using for the same functionality. Looks promising.
-
Still waiting for some "surprise, special, new filament" to test from Bing3D. Last time I checked FedEx it was tracking to Canada and not Thailand.
-
Was going to change the extruder to CNC aluminum, but when i was doing the preassemble today, noticed they send me the left-hand version when I need the right-hand version.
-
Calibrated the extruder manually a few times after studying a few tutorials on that topic.
-
Printed around 10 lucky number 9s (in Thai) and turned them into key-rings and gave them away as small gifts to people who work in my building.
-
Remixed and designed a number of tools and desktop knick-knacks including a double WD Passport ultra external hard drive holder, a few desktop caddies, some hard-to-find bathroom plumbing connectors, and more.
-
Took some 5mm rubber sheeting, a pair of Knipex electrician cutters and some super-glue; and used that stuff to make a rubber portal around my printer's external micro USB port to keep it secure and the connection stable.
-
Found my unused Logitech web cam in a storage box and will install it and use it to make some time-lapse build videos, I guess Will also use it to keep an eye on long prints when I'm away, so I can kill jobs gone bad.
-
Ordered some standard 623ZZ bearings, 100 M3 Hex Nuts, and some other small things from China, now in transit; plus a "right-hand" billet aluminum extruder to replace the wrong-handed, left-handed one that was sent to me.
-
Solved some layer adhesion problems I was having with Bing3D PLA-F filament by bumping up the hot end temperature to 230 - 240 degrees C. esun PLA+ prints at 210 degrees C, which is quite a difference in hot end temperature for two different PLA mixes.
-
Our electric bill increased about $10 - 15 USD last month due to 3D printing. I was expecting it to go up more than that, to be honest; but it was only a partial month. This months electric bill will tell a different story, I think.
That's about it.....
