Community Leadership, Tutorials and Blog Posts

Dear All,

After porting our legacy site from vB to Discourse, I spent a good amount of time over at Meta, especially a few months ago.

During that time, I noticed a number of things:

  • Most Meta Team members post a lot of tutorials and blog posts on the site where they are Leaders or Moderators.

  • The Meta Team members support the Meta site and not the site of their competitors. They post primarily at Meta, and not at stackoverflow, for example. They post a lot of tutorials, blog posts, etc. at the Meta site.

For some reason, a reason which I cannot explain, over the years a number our Team members and Moderators at unix.com and community.unix.com rarely post their projects, tutorials, blog posts, experiences, and other "starter" posts in our community.

This is just the opposite what I see at other forums from the leadership team(s).

I would really like to encourage all our team members and to start posts here (tutorials, projects, experiences, lessons learned, HOWTOs, etc) and not just answer questions, and to also strongly support our community (and not our competitor sites, especially if they are moderators).

Thank You!

Please note: Our community would be much busier if all leaders posted and started topics on tutorials, projects, experiences, lessons learned, HOWTOs, etc :).

Here are two examples of blog posts regarding projects which drive users to the site. Leading by example:

You can see that the second one, only posted a day ago, is already coming up at the top of a Google search:

Please post your projects, tips, tutorials, HOWTOs and other great ideas you have been working on.

Thanks!

Finally I was able to fix it all. I'm going to break it now :slightly_smiling_face:
