X windows on win32

Hi,

I'm looking for a X-windows client for win32. Preferably one that doesn't need to be installed so it can be run without administrator priviliges. I need it so users can logon to a unix or linux server from a windows client using X-windows. The idea is that the user must be able to use X-windows from every win32 client so I thought of a program that can be downloaded using ftp from their home account and then used on win32. Does anyone know of such a program? I don't want to use cygwin because it needs to be installed and windows sysadmins are not to keen on installing open source software on their entire network so a few users can use unix/ linux from every terminal.

Thanks.

Hi,

I am pretty sure there are a lot of X-Server for Windows out there, probably for money.... but what do you think about rdesktop/VNC ? OK, it increases the load of the linux systems, but this would be an easy solution to only be able to work remotely on this machines.

Cheers

i'm using for that purpose hummingbird but it is very expencive....
the low cost/opensource way is cygwin:

you can run a xserver and there is a possibility for a whole XDMCP session...

I'm now experimenting with cygwin/x. Does anyone have experience with that? I'm looking for a free, easy to use solution. It's for people from the astrophysics department so it can be a bit more complicated but it shouldn't take to much time to setup. Is it possible to package a preconfigured cygwin/x installation and just port to any windows pc?

This question was asked before on the board, you might want to check in that existing thread for answers as well.
