Greetings!
I have obtained a very old HP RP3410 risc box that currently has HP-UX 10 or 11 installed. I did say it was old
I would like to rebuild this system as LAN management server at home running IPtables, DNS, DHCPD and a small file server. Possibly a backup tool of some sorts if I can organise more disk space (Backula?).
My Question is; What linux distro do I download to install on this RP3410?
My preference is an Ubuntu or debian based distro but I am happy to go with whatever is best fit for this machine.
Any advice would be appreciated!
Many thanks
Michael
I doubt that you will find any Linux system to run on this platform.
Debian should (5.0)
Debian -- Ports, give it a shot.
Newer version don't (it has been discontinued), but 5.0 should have all the features your requested.
Please tell if it does, just for the record.
Hope that helps
Regards
Peasant.
I have finally managed to find a site that has the debian 5 Lenny HPPA iso which I am downloading.
I will let you know how it goes.
The HP RP3410 is not that old, it is still quit nice. You would be able to run HP-UX 11.31 (B11.31 HP 9000 Version) on it (see the support matrix)
The latest update (10) was march 2012. I would update to that version..
