What kind of transfer protocol we have in UNIX?

I was asked this question on the interview. I know ftp, sftp, scp, rcp. They said one more indi or indy

Could you please let me know it?

Thanks,
Oleg

People who interviewed you were waiting for you to notice:

"What did you say ? indi? indy ? how do you spell it ? i have never heard of that transfer protocol contrary to rcp scp ftp sftp ... Could you tell me more about this "indi" protocol ?"

It would have demonstrate :

  1. That you know some other protocols
  2. That you are not afraid to ask when you don't know
  3. That you are curious
  4. That you don't blindly believe what people say

... but now it's a bit late isn't it ?

We consider job interview questions to be "homework" and require them to be posted in the homework forum under the special homework forum rules. That means, listing who asked the question, etc. Sorry, it's the only way we can help you.

That said, what this employer is doing with their computers probably dictates what protocols they're using to some extent. UNIX doesn't have 5 protocols, it has as many as you can imagine, with more still being invented.
