I use fdisk -l command to see the attached hard disk drives in rhel5 and cntos 5.5 what is the same command for sun 5.9
use the format command if you want to see the disks on solaris.
format will list all the disks on a system.
# echo format will do the same thing but it will not go into format program

The command is echo | format
