Could anyone tell me the Prerequisites for extending a Volume on VxVM.
free space on the underlaying device... or new devices to add to the disk group...

if free space is available in storage, then any raid level as to be checked?
Need to know all requirements before proceeding with the activity.
In my Case, i have around 10 volumes and free space of 150 GB and also space available in storage... need to add new LUNs and have to proceed with the activity.
What is presented to the OS is a LUN [how it is made at storage level is upto storage specialist].
Since you want to increase volumes in veritas, the only prerequisite is to have free space in the disk group in which the volumes need to be increased,
otherwise
ask for new luns, rescann, add them to veritas, add to dg and increase size.
Also backup is not needed.
