Vncserver NOT working

Hi all,
I received following messages while trying to run vncserver,

what could be reason behind this.

vncserver
Warning: system1.pen.com:1 is taken because of /tmp/.X11-unix/X1
Remove this file if there is no X server system1.pen.com:1
Warning: system1.pen.com:2 is taken because of /tmp/.X2-lock
Remove this file if there is no X server system1.pen.com:2
New 'system1.pen.com:5 (root)' desktop is system1.pen.com:5
Starting applications specified in /root/.vnc/xstartup
Log file is /root/.vnc/system1.pen.com:5.log

However two files mentioned here to remove are present under /tmp.

Thanks,
Manali

What is X server here?

This is vncserver feeling out the local X reservations in /tmp, not to be confused with the AFINET TCP/IP port 60##. There is an option to ignore them and just try binding to port 6000 to 6099. The files there may mean users are on those ports, or may be left over, and it may take root to remove them. I am perfectly happy just using AFINET sockets. Poke around in vncserver's perl and see, or change the default.
