VmUNIX: Cleaning up RK6 port table

Hi All,

The below error was found in syslog.log :

Sep 11 12:56:38 <host name> vmunix: Cleaning up RK6 port table...

After which certain strange behavior was observed - rpcbind process crashed, many scripts in inittab stoped running, OTS is going to "STOPPING" state - unable to either stop/start it.

The issue was resolved after reboot.

The issue has re-occurred twice already and hence cannot be ignored as a random one time issue.

Pl provide some information on the below :

What does the entry in syslog.log mean? Why is it occurring
What are the logs that needs to collected to further analyse the issue.
What are the aspects that needs to be checked further to find the root cause of the issue.

During the incident can you provide the output of :
kcusage
You can also check man kcusage for some results from past and check out if any parameter is on 100% (especially ninode/nfile).

Are there any additional entries in syslog during the problem (or before) ?

Has the application on that HPUX been changed recently ? What is the exact HPUX version you are running ?

Remember, reboot is never a solution. This is not windows pc.

Hope that helps
Regards
Peasant.

I am using HP-UX Version 11.11, which one doesn't support the command kcusage.

Is there any command available instead of kcusage to monitor Kernel Parameters.

On 11.11 kmtune and other km* commands could be helpful.

I cannot say by heart such old release, i can get back to you tommorow, think i have one box.

Best regards
