I took a copy of the hard drive with dd.
The image starts booting with qemu/kvm.
Yet it stops with an error.
"WARNING: (iir,1) IIR SCSI: Cannot initialize controller!
PANIC: vfs_mountroot: cannot mount root"
What virtualized hardware do i have to use to get the machine running?
When you configure the VM, you have to select the same disk controller as in the physical system. If that controller is not available, then you will likely have to install the operating system on the vm then copy all the files.
If doing a fresh install is not possible, then you might consider contacting Microlite (microlite.com) as they have developed a method of changing the disk controller in the migration process.
