Unable to login Solaris 10 Sparc - Data Access Error

Hello everyone,

This is the first time I am installing Solaris. I have SunBlade 1500 Wrkstn. I installed Solaris 10 Sparc.

The installation went successfully but I don't get the login screen. I get the following error message:

Boot device: disk:a File and agrs:-
Data Access Error
Ok

I am not sure how to get rid of this message.

Thanks in advance.

It sounds like you have the auto-boot? OBP variable set to true and the boot-device variable set to something without an OS or doesn't exist. At the ok prompt try doing a simple boot disk.

ok boot disk

"boot disk" option did not help. I am getting the following message:

Boot device: /pci@1e,600000/ide@d/disk@0,0 File and args:-
Data Access Error

How do we check the boot-device variable settings?

Thanks.

More updates on this issue. At the boot command ("ok" prompt) - if I type "boot device", I get the following results:

Boot device: /pci@1e,600000/ide@d/disk@0,0:a File and args: device
can't open device
Warning: Fcode sequence resulted in a net stack depth change of 1 Evaluating:
Evaluating:

I will try to post this question on other forums as well but so far I think this is the best forum on Unix questions.

Thanks.

At the ok prompt, post the output of "show-disks"

ok show-disks
