Iam using BSNL broad band connection and i have installed two OS Xp & Sun solaris -x86 on my machine.Iam able to use INTERNET on windows Xp but not able to do it on solaris x86.
I have tried using DHCP concept as well as sys-unconfig command in solaris but no results.
When i use DHCP concept , iam getting the error as ,
"Failed to configure ipv4 interface lo0
Failed to configure ipv4 using DHCP"
First of all ,when i put the command
ifconfig -a
i can able to see the ip which i configured, but it says virtual address and not the real one.
i have tried several forums based on the INTERNET connection, but it doesn't solve my problem.
Can someone help me on this, as i was trying this for a year.
Doesn't really answer my question. Is it an old style modem (connected to your PC through a serial line) or a xDSL box connected to your PC through ethernet / usb / wifi ?
I got connected to the internet.Iam able to browse it now.
I have configured all the configuration files which is necessary for the Internet connection ,but the mistake i made is the
/etc/hostname.<interfacename>.
Instead of /etc/hostname.rtls0 i have done wrongly as /etc/hostname.lo0.
But still the GUI interface shows as lo0 (at the bottom right hand corner -Network icon)
But while rebooting the machine, interface name shows as rtls0.
Really i dont understand what is happening here on X86 Solaris version-5.10
But finally i got it, using the interface name rtls0.
