in ufsrestore how do i know which volume my selected
folder or file exist?.

I don't understand your question, can you rephrase and elaborate?

yes. in interactive usfrestore after or before typing extract it asks you which volume #. there one has to know which volume number to enter. right?. how one knows what number to enter?.

Select a volume to begin with, for example:

ufsrestore is 5
The "i" specifies interactive mode, and the "s 5" specifies the fifth UFS

and then use the what command to get a description of the backup. If that is not the corect one, then move on to the next one.
