System fail to boot

Hi

im using centos 6.4
starting yesterday i have a strange issue that im unable to resolve. the system is booting to GRUB menu and the os is not starting. i tried to run a repair install and the message attached is what i get, what can cause this?

thanks,

This looks like it might be a hardware issue (system can't see the hard drive). Try replugging the disk drive cable(s) first. Enter the motherboard BIOS and see if it identifies the hard drive geometry.

If it's not hardware, then it's one of two things.

  1. GRUB is broken; perhaps not transferring control to the CENTOS partition, or
  2. CENTOS is broken; corrupt files or whatever. Yes, what you are trying to do (upgrade in situ) should fix that.

If you suspect GRUB search Google for SuperGRUB ISO and burn yourself a copy of that. It's free. You should always have a copy of this in your toolkit if you're running machines booting through GRUB.
