Sun Fire V890 - Unable to access RSC or Serial console

Hello Folks,

I am having trouble to login to rsc or serial console of V890.
The rsc2.2.3 has been configured with required parameters, resetrs and even rebooted. When serial port is connected to laptop, The hyper terminal does not get the console or POSt messages when the server is rebooting except the message "RSC Alert: Host system reset" and then nothing.

The input-device and output-device has been redicrected to rsc-console and diag-console-out is set to true.
On the other hand the net manegement port does not even ping but i can see the green link light blinking continously. The cable connected is confirmed to be connected to a working port on required subnet.

As seen below, i receive this prompt through KVM switch connection to serial port. When i try to login even with correct username and password it says invalid move s out as seen below. The prompt does not look to be right as it even displays password entered. The password entered "passw0rd" is displayed in the next "Please login" line.

Please help with suggestions as i am stuck.

i think you've some glitches with your terminal software. if you press enter, it sends enter twice... i would recommend using another software for serial communication. you should try putty... works fine for me. or if you've a solaris laptop you can use a "tip" session.

Thanks for the response.

How do we use putty to connect to console when i connect the ILO LAN cable to net management port it is`nt pinging?
However i see that the light blinks.

not network... use the serial port!

First, to resolve the issue quick way, poweroff the system. remove the RSC card. power on the system with the serial connected. pull out your boot disks, to prevent the system from booting off first. You should see ok> prompt. From there, redo your configuration process of the RSC. It might help. I understand that itmay be a painful process

the rsc can only be configured from os level. so you have to boot solaris and install the rsc software. as i understand the problem, the communication with the terminal software is the problem here. so i suggested to use another software to do the communication...

DukeNuke2, you don't get my point. I told him to rerun the config only in the OS. I wanted him to get the serial connection working first, that's why I advised him to remove the RSC card in the first place. Of course I know that RSC cannot be configured in the ok> prompt

you write this and mean something diffrent.

Of course to boot up the server to multi-user first then redo confiuration of RSC
