Are you meaning the system processor password (SC>) or the operating system 'root' password?

And.....do you have Solaris up and running on the box? If so, which version?

If so, there is a command which will allow you to manipulate SC parameters from there - 'scadm'
This command usually lives at:
/usr/platform/$(uname-i)/sbin/scadm
Start with:
# scadm help
and
# scadm show
Read the man page, you can change the SC> password.
If you don't have Solaris running it makes it a little more difficult.
but solaris is not up, is there any option to recover the SC> password ?
Does the machine have a DVD drive and do you have Solaris OS media (DVD)?
