Solved: Disk Unable to Boot

Update:

The / file system (/dev/rdsk/c1t0d0s0) is being checked
fsck unable to stat
WARNING - unable to repair the / filesystem. Run fsck manually (fsck -F ufs /dev/rdsk/c1t0d0s0).

Root password for system maintenance (control-d to bypass):

I am unable to hit control-d to by pass.
I ran fsck prior before rebooting, any suggestions?

bump:

Type the root password and look at /etc/vfstab - maybe a mistake in there?

I can't ctr + d or enter password. The system freezes.
The vfstab is as follows

#device device mount FS fsck mount mount
#to mount to fsck point type pass at boot options
#
fd - /dev/fd fd - no -
/proc - /proc proc - no -
/dev/dsk/c1t0d0s1 - - swap - no -
/dev/dsk/c1t0d0s0 /dev/rdsk/c1t0d0s0 / ufs 1 yes logging
/dev/dsk/c1t0d0s5 /dev/rdsk/c1t0d0s5 /opt ufs 2 yes logging
/dev/dsk/c1t0d0s3 /dev/rdsk/c1t0d0s3 /usr/local ufs 2 yes logging
swap - /tmp tmpfs - yes -

I cant seem to see anything wrong..

If I remember right, you should change the entry in red...

Changing the entry still gave me the same error.
Any ideas?
I can't boot from the second disk either.

Boot from DVD and run fsck from there.

I did that,

fsck -F ufs /dev/rdsk/c1t0d0s0
fsck -y /dev/rdsk/c1t0d0s0

No errors were encountered.

Which version of Solaris is this ? uname -a
What was output of

Hi, this is a solaris 9 sparc machine.

# uname -a

The config looks good from what I can see... can you provide a prtvtoc output for both disks? also, how are the disks mirrored? and yes, the solaris version ( cat /etc/release )would also be good info!

I was actually trying to unencapsulate the disk from Vertias volume manager.
I was following this guide lines here
http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH157465
When I encountered an error here

# mt -f /dev/rmt/on stat
/dev/rmt/on: No such file or directory

but I proceded in removing the entries in /etc/system and vfstab.

# cat release

wow... haven't worked with veritas VM in years... and why are you using a command for tape drives? you should better write down EVERYTHING you have done. if every post comes up with new things, it's realy hard to help!

I did not know that was a tape drive command.

DukeNuke is referring to mt command.
Do you have Solaris OS DVD placed on server ?
Also, what is output of

fstyp /dev/rdsk/c1t0d0s0

it's always bad to just use commands and not know what they are doing...

Yes, the Solaris OS is in the Drive.
I used it to boot into single user mode to make changes in /etc/system and vfstab

fstyp /dev/rdsk/c1t0d0s0
ufs

I do not /var in your earlier output. Do you have older output of "df -h" ? Give me output of below command

du -sh /var
df -h
touch /root/test321
touch /var/tmp/test321
