Solaris10 on vmware - Internet connection failed

Installed Sun Solaris 10 (5/09) on vmware 6.0 but system is not connecting to internet.
when I check "ipconfig /all" I do not get any DNS Suffix name -- neither for vmnet1 and vmnet8 nor for local ethernet IP. Default gateways are 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.2

  1. Created /etc/resolv.conf
    domain localdomain
    search localdomain
    nameserver 192.168.1.1
    nameserver 192.168.1.2

  2. modified /etc/nsswitch.conf -- "dns" is added
    # hosts files dns

  3. /etc/inet/hosts and /etc/inet/ipnodes are same
    127.0.0.1 localhost
    192.168.1.2 johnjerry localhost

  4. reboot...

Is there anything I am missing here? Ineternet is not working on my Solaris 10.

Wow, 38 views but NO reply!

Anyway, I have resolved this issue -- just scrapped Sun Solaris 10. My primary objective was installation of oracle 11g on linux environment and today I did it successfully on RHEL5.

Well, there are some glitches on RHEL 5 too. It does not work properly on virtual machine (resolution issue). After painful struggle I was able to identify actual kernel and resolved that error. Afterwards, Database installation was smooth.

Now I feel that though Linux is very strong OS, very few people are here in linux world who can actually resolve issue or assist in some way. Otherwise, most of Linux forums have plethora of problems/questions and limited relevant/presumptive answers.

In another thread, I will post how to resolve Resolution Issue on RHEL 5? (applicable only on virtual machine)
