Solaris 11.4 on sun4u processors

Hello,

I am aware that oracle have killed off all the older hardware in their release of sol11.4 and I am just wondering if anyone come across / know of a way to force the installation and running of Solaris 11.4 on unsupported hardware?
I have a couple of old M4000 and T5240 boxes which I would like to further my Unix knowledge on. It would be great if I could get 11.4 on them as that's what we use on our live infrastructure at my organisation. I cant get money for newer hardware so have to make do with what I have available to me. I have looked at x86 VMs of 11.4 and they are fine but not the same for playing with the applications we use as they are not SPARC based.

Any advise is greatly appreciated

Welcome!

Go for Solaris 11.3 - should not be much different from 11.4
You must first install the latest M4000 / T5240 firmware.
