SCO openserver: dhcp hostname

Simple question: how to send full dhcp hostname
to dhcp server?
Dchp server is linux, client is sco openserver6.

Are you saying that if you set TCP as dhcp and fill in the hostname and domain in 'netconfig' that this data is not transferred to the dhcp server?

Yes,is something like this.
On centos i use dhcp_hostname on sysconfig scripts
on SCO OS..how to send hostname?

I tried setting a SCO 6 system to dhcp and then looked at the dhcp settings on the router (dhcp server) and the hostname showed as an asterisk.
The system documentation has nothing to say about the system being a client; however, it does say in the dhcp server client options that a hostname may be tied to a MAC address. My suggestion to you is to look at the options available on the Linux dhcp server to see if you can set the client hostname by MAC address.

Yes i can set it by dhcp server but only with "exclusive" ip address :o
Bad solution,but better than nothing
Thanks
