rsh on SCO UNIX

Hi,

How to enable rsh in SCO-UNIX

Thanks

Got no SCO here, but maybe check if it is remarked in the /etc/inetd.conf.

since the remote shell server rshd is invoked by inetd as zaxxon said you should have lines in /etc/inetd.conf and perhaps have to configure a /etc/hosts.equiv

Oh and forgot to say that you will have to refresh/restart/kill -1 the inetd process to make sure it notices the changes.

In a machine which is configuref for rsh enabling there is no file named as /etc/hosts.equiv. Is there any other file in SCO UNIX. File you mentioned may be in different flavour of UNIX.

/etc/hosts.equiv is optional...(its to say the hosts in this file are friends, and the UID that are similar do the same on this box...).
The file for configuration is /etc/inetd.conf

Exactly!! hosts.equiv file is used for passwordless entry into the server... you need not even touch it when you do not require any such thing.. check for the entry in /etc/inetd.conf and restart the services.. if you are using all the options which have been set by default .. then it should work fine ..
