root login password

Hello Guys,

We are using Sco Unix 5.0
While we was changing root password from scoadmin, It did not change the password and hang in between.
Now, I am unable to login as root user

pls. do suggest me how can i skip root password and how can i goto root to change the password again.

Or if their is any alternate to go into root # prompt

when you get on as root, use the passwd command to change the pw... it seems to work a little more reliably.

If you are using a liscensed SCO version of UNIX, you can do one of several things. 1) Contact SCO directly - www.sco.com - and pay a fee to have them recover the root password - OR - 2) Re-install the O/S and MAKE CERTAIN that you Choose the Update/Refresh O/S Option and PRESERVE Disk Layout and Filesystems. Oh... I would NEVER not have a password for my root user.

i agree with the two things but be sure to make a password for root coz root has all the access in the system and if no password someone might hack on to your system ok.
