My NIM Master is running at aix 6100-07-02-1150. I would like to migrate to aix V7. The server is an lpar at a remote location. Is there a way to migrate it without going to the remote location and loading a cd into it?
do you have VIO on that frame ?
If yes - you can map ISO as CD and do the upgrade
Or install somewhere else AIX 7.1 configure NIM services new perform standard alt-disk upgrade .
The vio servers are at the remote site also but I like your idea of creating a temp aix 7 server as a nim master then push the migration to the server which needs it.

In one location I did this upgrade with this way
In second location I have just installed new Aix 7.1 and remapped NIM disks to new server.
Also I needed to reconfigure NIM services but this quite fast to be done
