Remote installation of solaris 9

Hi All,

We have an ungent requirement of remote installation of a Sun server as we can't attach cd/dvd rom with the server. Is there any way like NFS installation in linux to complete it?

We need any possible way except Jumpstart as it has a long procedure to set.

Thanks,
Deepak

You will need jumpstart only to proceed from network. Or unless you attach an external drive to boot from

what kind of server do you use?

Thanks DukeNuke2.

The server was Sunfire V 440 and jumpstart is the only quick and easy for remote installation of Solaris. Linux is having some most easy and quick way to get it done. Unfortunately, solaris is lacking that.

Thanks,
Deepak

Can you don't mind share with me what is the option Linux has that is lacking on Solaris?

NFS installation is the best ( in the term of easy and quick ) I have found till now which is available with Linux which Solaris doesn't have.

If we talk about some complex methods, Kickstart is better than Jumpstart. I am not mocking at Solaris, I love it and use too. But we will have to accept the truth.

Thanks,
Deepak
