I am new to solaris patching.. while doing the patching do we need to have the root previligies and also need help while doing patching work if the server has veritas on it........

and what are the special care we need to take while veritas is onthe particular server which is going to be patched..???
sure you need root access... and for veritas you need the patches for the volumemanger...
as always be sure to have a (working!) backup BEFORE patching your system!
You should also reboot the machine if it has been up and running a while before you start patching. This is to make sure you got a working machine where every thing starts again before you start making changes.
Read the README and INSTALL in the patch package first.
Of course not to read every README file for 100s of patches...

I need full info on how to install this patch like going to the sunsolve or we can found it from some where else like that and how to install it.
Go to sunsolve.sun.com search the patch in the "Patch finder" and download it. There is a README on how to install it (patchadd).
Make sure that you break the mirrors of the system and attach them a few days later again. Like this you have always a disk in the original state. This is recommended for Kernel patching.
