Recovery of formatted ext3 partition

Hi!

I have a really big problem right now. I (accidently) formatted a ext3 partition with "mkfs.ext3 /dev/sda1". The problem is that I REALLY need some files from there. The partition had a size of about 4GB, after accidently formatting it, I accidently rewrote Grub on it :wall: I hope I didn't permanently deleted important files...
I just need some scripts (.sh scripts) and images (.png) on the partition, I tried PhotoRec and TestDisk. Or I can't figure out how to correctly use them or they can't find any files :frowning:
What is the best way to recover files in my case? I tried searching but couldn't find anything usefull, so you are my last hope :frowning:

Thanks A LOT for help!!

i'm posting too late, but if you still have that disk, try this

Hey
Thanks for the link
But it didn't work...
I checked all superblocks I found on the disk but none still holds files from my old files :frowning:
I tried it again with Testdisk with every option possible, but same problem...
Is it even possible to recover something at this point?
Could an Recovery-Expert do something?

You could try something like magicrescue, which scans sector-by-sector to hunt for fragments of previous files without caring about the filesystem at all. Beyond that you're probably out luck.
