Query to print numbers in words

Hi,

If i give a number say "1234" the output of mysql query should be:

one thousand and twenty four

How to write mysql query for this?

With regards
Vanitha

I'm not totally sure how this can be done in SQL, it's not what I'm best in, but I think it can be done in perl or similar language, see this page, and hopefully you can port the idea for your own project.

if you can use Perl, module Number::Spell would be helpful

Not sure if this will help. number is part of bsd-games.

redoubtable@Tsunami ~ $ number -l 1234
one thousand two hundred thirty-four
redoubtable@Tsunami ~ $

redoubtable, thanks for sharing that, I think that's definitely what vanitham is looking for. Yogesh's suggestion is also a ray of light, I was almost sure there's a perl module for that, but I couldn't find it
Vanitha, now you can construct SQL query, store the output somewhere, and then process it with some of the suggested methods above.

dear vanitha if you wanna use only SQL here is the code..

create FUNCTION dbo.udf_Num_ToWords (

@Number Numeric (38, 0) -- Input number with as many as 18 digits

) RETURNS VARCHAR(8000)
/*
* Converts a integer number as large as 34 digits into the
* equivalent words. The first letter is capitalized.
*
example:
select dbo.udf_Num_ToWords (1234567890) + CHAR(10)
+ dbo.udf_Num_ToWords (0) + CHAR(10)
+ dbo.udf_Num_ToWords (123) + CHAR(10)
