Protecting backup with password

How can I protect my backups using password?
I'm waiting any solution.

If you gave more information, maybe someone could help, but we dont even know what backup software you are using, even if being IBM it should be TSM...
What utility and version of software please

I use tar tool, I want to encrypt the backup, or protect it using password.
