What is your Firefox browser?

I have Firfox 3.05b.

It is a berta version bundled with the open SUSE 11.0 software.

When I tried to get sound from an online dictionary, I get the following message.

No suitable plugins found.
Unknown plugin (application/x-shockwave-flash)

I downloaded a .rpm file from the following website. The error message directed me to this website.
It was automatic installation.
It did not work.

http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1\_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash

Yes, even i was directed to the same website. And i have downloaded and installed the flash-plugin-9.0.124.0-release.i386.rpm package, but when i launch the browser again, it still gives me the same error

As the auto install didn't work, I did the manual installation.
I got the following message.
linux-j5q7:/home/ni/Desktop # rpm -Uvh 'flash-plugin-9.0.124.0-release.i386.rpm'Preparing... ########################################### [100%]
package flash-plugin-9.0.124.0-release is already installed

I tried to get a pronounciation of a word from the above dictionary.
No sound at all.

What is the problem?
I think Adobe does not make one for 64bit platform.

The sound card works because I hear sound at the starting up procedure of the computer.[/COLOR]

Yes, it gives me the same message to me also. Is there any other way to solve this ?

Here is the screen shot of "About mozilla firefox"
How do i recognize the version in the above

Hello balumankala

  1. Click the 'Help' button'.

  2. Afterwards click 'About Mozilla Firefox'.

  3. Read carefully to get the version number.

You have an old version of Firefox.

It is 1.5.0.10

I heard in the past that the problem lies with Adobe. They don't make one for 64 bit platforms.

I guess there more knowledgeble people in our forum to help us.

My PC has a 32 bit processor, but still i face the same problem

I am no expert in these matters.
There is a temporary solution.
You start the browser Konquerer.
Sound and flash photos work fine in Konquerer.

I hope someone else will help us.
I know this is a possible task.

It says "version 1.5.0.10" right up at the top. That's pretty old -- perhaps you should upgrade?

I can run Flash on 64bit with an adapter library "libflashsupport" but I'm on Ubuntu so my instructions would probably not work for you. Still, you might want to look at the Ubuntu Wiki and see if the information there helps. RestrictedFormats/Flash - Community Help Wiki is pretty specific to Ubuntu but there are various useful bits and pieces elsewhere on that wiki, too.
