Problem using default account with ILOM on Sun SPARC Enterprise T5140

Hi,

I have Sun SPARC Enterprise T5140 and I can't access it via serial port using preconfigured administrator account, as described in Sun Integrated Lights Out Manager 2.0 User's Guide: I'm always receive "Login incorrect" message. I'm really confused! Does anyone experience such circumstances? How can I solve this problem?..

Login id: root
Password: changeme

Thank for your quick answer, but it's unuseful in my issue: as I said, I've tried login information as described in server documentation: there is the same information as you provided and it's incorrect on my server. I can imagine only one answer: that is someone has changed default account information...

Yup, only the administrator would have that. check with your colleages if they have that. There's no way to recover, have to find for the password

Caution - The ILOM includes a user account "sunservices," which shares the ILOM root password. Normally, it is used exclusively by Sun Service personnel; however it can also be used to perform recovery procedures documented in the product notes. Incorrect use of this account can corrupt the service processor image or operations.

Hm... As I know SCC comprises ILOM configuration information. So change the SCC can change the ILOM administrator login information.

maybe you can enlighten all of us on this procedure, if you can make it out :0

I'm just trying to find out what can I do in this situation... Documentation says that it can be done

I see that we never got an answer in this thread. Well, I now have a T5120 on my desk with an unknown iLOM password. If we cannot contact someone who knows the password by mid-morning tomorrow, I am supposed to break in somehow. :stuck_out_tongue:

I can't find any docs on how this is done. But other models have procedures documented to reset lost passwords on LOM/ALOM/SC/iLOM etc. I got a complete list of the procedures that I could find and made a pretty good attempt at adapting them for the T5120. No luck, so far. I have one final procedure to try. This doc talks about

The first, non jumper, procedure seemed pretty harmless to try, but it didn't work. This jumper procedure is my last idea. I opened up the T5120 and found a likely looking jumper in the vicinity of the service processor. This makes me nervous, but I'll try it as a last resort. ....unless someone talks me out of it.

So... any feedback on this jumper idea? I'm not a hardware guy. What is the worst that could happen if this jumper has some other effect?

Actually, our business partners told us ILOM password. To our surprise, they changed it.

Well, if you have new server, you should contact Sun Tech support. If no do the same. Documentation says that there is removable SCC module that contains all MAC addresses, host ID, and ILOM configuration data. Probably, another SCC, pluged in your MB can solve this problem...

did anyone think to try simply using scadm from the command line and changing the root or admin password?

Well they found the password. I will save that jumper thing for next time.

Grippo, scadm is located at /usr/platform/platform-name/sbin/scadm if it exists for your platform. There is no scadm to try for a T5120.

Its not as easy as you think dear
