Printer driver for Canon PIXMA iP1000

Hi, I just installed the Fedora Core 3, and now my printer cannot work because the Fedora Core 3 cannot find a suitable printer driver for it. It did recognize the model of my printer but just can't get the right printer driver. I am new to Linux, really hope someone can help me fix this problem, because I really need to use the printer.
Thanks a lot.

Did you look for information on setting up your printer at http://www.linuxprinting.org

Printing in GNU/Linux makes use of a printer server. The 2 common servers are CUPS and LPR, most likely FC3 makes use of CUPS.
You may need to look on the CUPS webpage for more information on setting up your printer.

Is this a newer model printer? USB or Parallel port printer?
If it is a parallel printer, did you test the printer to see if it would print via the command

ls > /dev/lp0

url correction made, thanks for pointing that out.

I think that should be http://www.linuxprinting.org
