Hello
I have installed Oracle Linux 9.4 on a server. Our security team is unable to connect and scan this server with security tools (we have tried with a user I have given root privileges and a root user).
I did not have this problem with operating systems like OL 8.10 and OL 7.9.
What should I check for OL 9.4. When installing it, I did the same operations as I did in OL 8 and 7.9.
The different thing is that it is mandatory to use NetworkManager in OL 9.4 and network operations are done via keyfile instead of ifcfg files.
You are aware that, from OL v7, root is a role and not a user. You would need to convert the role to a user in order to login as root. Also, a specific procedure must be followed to give superuser access to an account.
This might be relevant, maybe not, but a new install would be in this 'role' state until manipulated by the sysadmin.
I dumped the contents of the sshd.config file from my oracle linux 8.10 server to the one with oracle linux 9 installed and the security team was able to scan.
I think a parameter in the ssh config was preventing this. Now I need to detect it
