OPS Center Email Notifications

Hi,
Does any one know how to configure email notifications (to exchange) in Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g OPS Center?
I have gone through the documentation and have done everything it asked, but still no notifications via email. I get the following error:

At the OS level i tried sending email via our smtpi server, and it is working fine, which tells me something is wrong at the application (ops Center) level.

Sounds like the mail protocol needs to be configured, e.g. pop3 or smtp?
The following:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11857_01/em.111/e16790/notification.htm\#BABJFFCJ
covers email notification.

The document is for Enterprise Manager Grid Control not OPS Center. Out going server is defined in ops center. There is no field for protocol

Hey Mack1982, have you managed it to work?
I'm experiencing the same problem.

Nah, I am thinking of calling the oracle sales guy in, to give me a demo,..:o
They should be able to fix it,...

Aww.. ok.
I think I'll do the same then...

Thanks man.

Have you tried adding your user/password in addition to the name of your email server?

Hmmm nope... because my smtp doesn't require auth for sending internal messages.

yep same case here

Well, bad news, the oracle consultant refused to help in setting up the mail. It requires a support contract,.... :frowning:

Well, have you solved this case?

I think I'm going to open a support ticket with Oracle to see if they can help me.

As an alternative, you can use the Neuron Management Suite to manage Ops Center's events and setup notifications:
Halcyon | Neuron Management Suite

Hi there, I already opened a support. Thanks anyways pgarousi.

I'll post the solution asap.

Thanks,.. I will be waiting

Meanwhile I will start looking into Microsoft System Center Operations Manager,... heard it supports SPARC

Yeah, I think it does but it's a pain in the ass to setup it. LOL

I'm already in contact with Oracle to solve it.

Hi there guys, solved the problem... finally!

So the thing is, you have to send e-mails through your OpsCenter server, so, I had to configure sendmail on it and configure the notification profile on OpsCenter to use localhost as smtp server.

Here's how I configured the notification profile:

Mail Host: localhost
Port: <blank>
Mail User: root
Mail Password: <enter the password for root on the OpsCenter server>
Connection Security: STARTTLS

Good luck mates!

email is root@opscenter?

hmm nope.
the e-mail is the mail account will receive all the notifications.

E-mail Address: admin@yourdomain.com
Mail Host: localhost
Port: <blank>
Mail User: root
Mail Password: <enter the password for root on the OpsCenter server>
Connection Security: STARTTLS

Forwarding mail to root user and then to exchange from there.
Thanks man, you are a genius

lol
