Numpad not working

Hello Friends,

I have recently installed Open SUSE 12.1 with Gnome on Lenovo Thinkpad. I am using it with an external keyboard and monitor. The numpad of the keyboard seem to have some problems. Its not responding at all. I have tried numlock ON/OFF but with no success.
Some forums say, it could be solved by disabling the keyboard options, something like "Move pointer with keyboard'' I was not able to find these settings after investing a lot of time.
Can someone please suggest another solution or workaround ?
thanks in advance,

Chirag

Well, is pointer by numpad somehow enabled? Does it move your mouse pointer by pixels when you try it?

well, yes...indeed like you said, it moves pixel by pixel...

The magic key combo seems to be shift-numlock. That turns on keypad mouse behavior, and fortunately also turns it off.
