No internet - Solaris 10 new install

Hi all

I am new to unix having played with linux for a few years (still newbie).

My problem is I am having trouble connecting to the internet. I do not seem to have an eth0 connection just a locahost.

I read on a blog post somewhere that unix uses pcn0 instead of eth0 but it seems my card just is not configured. There were no problems on install but I just cannot get an internet connection up. I am using a router which is running DHCP.

Can someone please help?

Thanks in advance

Do you have an NVIDIA motherboard with built in ethernet?

Hi reborg, thanks for your response.

The PC is an old 2nd hand Packard Bell. The spec of the machine is:

Model: Platinum 3500
Motherboard: MSI 6119 Tacoma
Ethernet Adapter: basic D-Link PCI card
Memory: 393MB SDRAM
Graphics Card: ATI Rage 128

I have never had any trouble running Ubuntu, RHEL, Windows XP Pro and Fedora on this box

thanks

ok, I don't see your network adapter on the HCL.

You could try using the drivers from here:

Or, as I did, get an extra 3com or similarly widespread NIC and add it to the machine.
