Need help on installation.

Hi All,

Good Morning. I am trying to install solaris 10 in my ultra 10 work station using CD. But i am getting the following error, can anyone helping me on this.

ok boot cdrom - install

Boot device : /pci@1f,0/pci@1,1/ide@3/cdrom@2,0:f File and args: - install
Can't read disk label.
Can't open disk label package

Can't open boot device

ok

I have changed the CD(its bootable cd only) too but still getting the same issue. Can someone assist me please.

Thanks,
Gowtham

try only:

ok>boot cdrom

Let us know if it doesn't resolve the issue.

Thanks,
Deepak

I have tried that too. No use :frowning:

set auto-boot to false at OBP. reset-all
try again. a quick question, whats the CD release ? I suppose you can't get CDs now. Only DVD image. Can you try burn it again, if it was the method you were doing?
My suggestion, please update your OBP firmware before you start on your OS installation

Are you sure this CD is for SPARC and not x86 ?

You're always biased from the similar previous postings... hahah  Good clue for the OP though

I'm calling that experience, not bias.

Sorry for the WRONG word. Yes yes.. "Experience"

That is sparc cd only.

Perhaps is the CD drive faulty, or the CD media not compatible with it.

Is it an original CD or has it been recorded from an iso image ?

hi

The best way to install the Solaris 10 OS on a Sun Netra T1 without an install server is to use an external CD-ROM drive. You can use a Sun-supported external SCSI CD-ROM drive. For more information, follow this discussion on the Sun support forum thread.

i hope this works.
