Need Help installing NIC

Hi guys,

I am a newbie in SCO UNIX, and I am having problem in installing a NIC for my machine:

My machine: UnixWare scou 5 7.1.4 i386 x86at SCO UNIX_SVR5

My NIC is dLink DFE-538TX, I got the driver from:
http://support.dlink.ca/ProductView.asp?ProductModel=DFE-538TX

The driver contains 2 files: SETUP and 538TX.vol

I found some guide in installing the NIC, but I found out that:

  1. in using custom utility, the screen which appear in my machine is different from the examples I found
  2. I have no "netconfig" utility. I can only use SCOadmin>Networking>Network Configuration Manager. and my NIC is NOT listed there.

Could you help me by giving a detail step-by-step configuration? I am quite frustrated, and I've been trying for 2 days.

Thanks guys,

.V.

Heya....

Here we go, that's the way i'm always installing a new NIC....

  • Copy the driver you found (538TX.vol) on a floppy disk....
  • use the old doscp command to copy the file named now as VOL.000.000 into /tmp
  • start custom and install new (That's the driver installation on the SCO machine)
  • after that start netconfig or use the scoadmin for installing a new NIC, it's the same anyway....

That's it...... usually when i change the NIC i always deinstall it before i remove the NIC from the machine......

I think, that should work......

Caphoff thumbs up
