Need a gui for linux.

I want one that won't run too slugish on a slower system (p 200Mhz for example). I know kde is out, anybody think gnome will run ok (I got 128 megs ram on it btw...don't ask :))?

I've had decent luck with KDE on a slower system than that - I personally think that KDE handles lower memory/cpu better than Gnome.

On my Linux boxes, I stick with twm, though. Quite zippy

Hmm, I think I used that one like once. There is also one, ICEwm I think it is called, seemed pretty fast. No desktop icons though. Hmm, I better get used to not using those I guess :stuck_out_tongue: .

i have a pentium 233mhz processor.
I am using WindowMaker now and it is fast.
Some other pretty fast ones are Enlightenment and fluxbox.

I use Openbox on all my boxes, including the lower spec ones that require X. It's like blackbox but in very active development and even has anti-alias fonts.

I've used XFCE - which will read all your default KDE menus and use them without any hassel!

REALLY low usage ones appear to be:
Fluxbox
Blackbox
