Modem (dial up) connecton to Unix machine

Hello to all,
I have one problem and hope you'll be able to help me.
It's about connecting Windows PC machine to Unix machine via dial up through Hyper terminal.
Connection was working in the past. In the meantime, windows machine is replaced (win XP) and unix machine stayed as is. So nothing is changed on Unix side.
All I kow that connection was via hyper terminal. When dial to modem on Unix side, modem responds correctly and when cca 1 minut is elapsed it shuts down since there is no actual connection. During that minute I'm hearing standard modem noises.

I don't know how hyper terminal connection was set up in the first place. I suppose that I need to check option to open terminal window after connection but not really sure what are the parameters in hyper terminal.

Did anyone have similar issues?

Thanks

Possibly some speed issues or handshaking issues. When the modem connects the sound goes away and hitting any key should echo back to you.
