Hello.
I'm looking for mail server application with webclient, antispam and antyvirus.
Is Postfix good?
Hi
you can use Postfix with Amavis and Spamassassin. As webmailer you can use roundcube or horde.
Regards,
xabbu
So webmailer is some extra app to postfix?
Yes. Postfix is only the MTA, amavis, spamassassin and webmail are all extra programs.
Regards
xabbu
Thanks.
I have some problems in configuration Postfix.
I put: cat /etc/resolv.conf and get:
Dynamic resolv.conf(5) file for glibc resolver(3) generated by resolvconf(8)
# DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE BY HAND -- YOUR CHANGES WILL BE OVERWRITTEN
nameserver 192.168.200.2
search wi.zut.edu.pl wi.ps.pl wi.tuniv.szczecin.pl
I put hostname and got:
vpc2a
So in Postfix configuration I put:
# See /usr/share/postfix/main.cf.dist for a commented, more complete version
# Debian specific: Specifying a file name will cause the first
# line of that file to be used as the name. The Debian default
# is /etc/mailname.
#myorigin = /etc/mailname
smtpd_banner = $myhostname ESMTP $mail_name (Ubuntu)
biff = no
# appending .domain is the MUA's job.
append_dot_mydomain = no
# Uncomment the next line to generate "delayed mail" warnings
#delay_warning_time = 4h
readme_directory = no
# TLS parameters
smtpd_tls_cert_file=/etc/ssl/certs/ssl-cert-snakeoil.pem
smtpd_tls_key_file=/etc/ssl/private/ssl-cert-snakeoil.key
smtpd_use_tls=yes
smtpd_tls_session_cache_database = btree:${data_directory}/smtpd_scache
smtp_tls_session_cache_database = btree:${data_directory}/smtp_scache
# See /usr/share/doc/postfix/TLS_README.gz in the postfix-doc package for
# information on enabling SSL in the smtp client.
myhostname = vpc2a.wi.zut.edu.pl
alias_maps = hash:/etc/aliases
alias_database = hash:/etc/aliases
myorigin = /etc/mailname
mydestination = wi.zut.edu.pl, localhost, localhost.localdomain, localhost
relayhost =
mynetworks = 127.0.0.0/8 [::ffff:127.0.0.0]/104 [::1]/128
mailbox_size_limit = 0
recipient_delimiter = +
inet_interfaces = all
Then I put sudo nano /etc/postfix/virtual and here put:
user@vpc2a.wi.zut.edu.pl user
Next run command:
sudo postmap /etc/postfix/virtual
sudo service postfix restart
Now when I send mail to user@vpc2a.wi.zut.edu.pl I get:
Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:
user@vpc2a.wi.zut.edu.pl
Technical details of permanent failure:
DNS Error: Address resolution of vpc2a.wi.zut.edu.pl. failed: Domain name not found

Hi,
your Nameserver is unable to resolve vpc2a.wi.zut.edu.pl. This must be fixed before you can use postfix.
A solution could be to enter the ipaddress and the name in the local file
/etc/hosts
But this way I not recommended. Fix your DNS!
Regards,
xabbu
How can I do that.
My server is on virtual machine on uniwersity network.
Mayby I should create postfix for "local" use for my virtual users.
Budrys,
will you accept mails from outside your VM?
Regards
xabbu
I think tahat with VM on my universitys network it's not possible.
Sure it is.
First correct your main.cf
to:
mydestination = vpc2a.wi.zut.edu.pl, , localhost, localhost.localdomain, localhost
and
service postfix restart
Edit /etc/hosts
IPADDRESS vpc2a.wi.zut.edu.pl
And try again.
Regards
xabbu

Test mail from postfix
Hi,
you should post the complete Errormail.
So the Problem is, you try to send an email from your VM to google,
and the google server checks your domain, this does not exist so you can't send emials from you VM without correct the external DNS server, or you must rewrite your hostname of the VM to one which exist in the DNS.
Regards,
xabbu
OK. So what should I do?
You can use masquerade_domains
in your main.cf.
masquerade_domains = wi.zut.edu.pl
But you are unable to receive mails from google because google.
So your emailaddress will be:
user@wi.zut.edu.pl
And if you reply to this address google will send the mail to user@wi.zut.edu.pl which is not your Server.
Regards,
xabbu
Add
masquerade_domains = wi.zut.edu.pl
to main.cf
