Login failed username password is incorrect

Hi all,

For one of our server (Windows 2008R2), we sometimes will received "login failed username password is incorrect" when login in as domain account (the username & password is correct).

Only after a reboot of the server (using local account), we can login without the above error.

Can anybody help on this?

Thanks.

That sounds like a Windows question, and this is primarily a Unix forum.

That said, it would suggest that there is a loss of connection to the authentication server. One possible could perhaps be an IP address conflict of the server, but this not the only thing to consider.

You would need to post much more about your environment and probably do detailed research when the problem was occurring (and potential business services down-time) through long discussions. I would suggest that you would be better taking this up with a specialist Windows support forum or contracted Windows support.

Sorry I can't give you more.

On the next occurrence, with the local user logged in and before reboot, immediately try to trace an appropriate event log for the previously failed log in attempt in the Event Viewer and see if you can get more details. If you're lucky you might find a useful reason code.
