Logging to SMS after rebooting!!

Hello,

After rebooting AIX system it logging to SMS menu, anyway to make it boot to normal mode?

any help will be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Do you mean that your server has gone to SMS automatically? Is it prompting you to choose a boot device and did you have one set already?

There is an option in the menus for Multiboot If this is Yes, then the boot will pause and ask what to do next every time.

The other possibility is that you have lost access to all the devices listed in the boot-list and so SMS does not know what to do next. Can you give us a few more details about what you are seeing?

Robin

Hello rbatte1,

I don't have any prompt menu to select the booting, it logging to SMS menu automatically every time, so i need to exit from that menu and make it booting normally to AIX system.
Kindly find the attached snap.

If it is LPAR, check the LPAR property from the HMC. It shall set to boot in SMS.

Also check the partion properties in the HMC (click on lpar, select properties, select "Settings" tab and insure Boot Mode is "Normal" and "keylock position" is Normal). You can also check boot by booting to firmware and do printenv boot-device.

I think the answer is N3: Continue to password entry.

after logging to SMS cannot finf the harddisks in bootlist, just (Ethernet, tape, cd-rom)

also when i boot from tape and access maintenance mode then access volume group and tried (bootlist -m normal hdisk0) get the below error

anyway to let the hardisk shown in the bootlist.

Thanks

Sounds like a physical disk issue. What kind of system is this. What should the boot device be...what the of disk. Did you boot into firmware and printenv. What does SMS show for boot devices other than tape, network, CDROM.

You could burn an AIX Diagnostic CD and boot that to check out if you have any disks at all and if they are functioning...
