Loadbalancing internet Linux?

Hi
When there is two or three internet lines How can you ping lost latest to try to cover loadbalance
csf or iptables can do Loadbalance?
Thanks

Hi,

You will have to provide more information here;

  • Are the "Internet Lines" independent lines?
  • Are they on a switch that is managed.
  • Do they have seperate IP Addresses?
  • Are they ADSL, Fibre, Lease or other?

On the system front, how are they connected to your Linux box. There are too many possibilities here for us to guess at!

I have 3 line adsl internet

I would when ones line was lost

Lines two come up then fail is over

For exaple such as micro tick

Is there in linux a program do this works?tnx

Hi,

OK, I have a better understanding now - well a bit better. Does each of the ADSL lines have its own router, or are they three connections into the same router/switch.

If it's the latter then it would probably handled by the ADSL router if you have three independent lines you could team the network ports on the Linux box assuming that there are enough of them.

Have capable to load balancing and fail overing ?

If you would be possible give me a link about Linux box

Sincerely yours

Hi,

I'm not aware of any Linux appliance that will provide what you want, there are quite a number that will handle two WAN connections - with load balancing and fail over and you can find details on one of these the "Sophos RED 50" here.

I am unaware of any that would support three outgoing connections, I'm sure that they are out there it's just that the best person to advise you on this would be a communications specialist.

As to the inward facing connections, you'll need link aggregation enabled at the switch and server level and IPMP along with link aggregation enabled at the server level if you want to make use of this functionality.

Your other option which I think would work, would be to configure a Linux server as a bridge server driving all three of your WAN connections by grouping the interfaces. However I'm not sure how it would work as you'll have one internal IP Address translating to three external IP Addresses. you can find an article and a lot of good information here.
