Iwlwifi

Hi,

I installed first RHEL 8.3 on a laptop with GUI. Installer can use the iwlwifi, Internet works, I can install RHEL and use it on reboot with the wireless card, no problem.

I reinstalled RHEL 8.3 on the same laptop, but this time without GUI (only server), at reboot, I can't use iwlwifi. So I removed iwlwifi using "modeprobe -r iwlwifi", and then added it using "modeprobe iwlwifi" I get the following error :

no suitable firmware found!
minimum version required: ...
maximum version supported: ...
check git://...

Any idea ?

Thank you very much.

Cheers,

Remi.

Try:

# apt update && apt install firmware-iwlwifi

to install firmware first.

This is a RedHat Enterprise Linux (not Debian/Ubuntu), there's no apt... but dnf package manager.
Do you know if firmware-iwlwifi is available on RedHat ?

Thank's

Well yep. You're going to need firmware loaded since your error message complains that there isn't any. You'll need the right firmware for your adapter/chipset.

Here's an example:

but this may not be the correct one for your chipset.

You need to research it.
